PLANTAR WARTS

WHAT IS A PLANTAR WART?

A wart is a growth on the skin that is caused by direct contact with the Human Papilloma Virus. They can develop anywhere on the foot, but are mostly seen on the bottom. Warts are commonly seen in children and adolescents, but can also be seen in adults. A wart appears as an area of thickened skin and can be associated with pain. There are usually tiny black dots within the thickened area of skin. These represent small blood vessels.

TREATMENT:

Although the human body will naturally clear a wart on its own, occasionally certain treatments are used to speed the process. It is important to note that there is no known treatment that is 100% effective in ridding the virus. Treatments can include topical medications, oral medications, cryotherapy, and surgical excision.
